Possible Impact of Overseas Study on Language Ability and Motivation to Study English

The present study explored whether two semester overseas programs had any impact on participants’ language ability and motivation to English. ability, L2 learning attitude of 65 Japanese university students participating in semester-long abroad were measured pre departure their return. TOEIC listening reading tests used measure students’ linguistic gains, possible changes attitudes using a survey created specifically for the purpose this study. Statistical analysis implied significant effect from scores attitude, with motivational intensity prior being predictor gains. findings underscore idiosyncratic nature studying abroad, will be use designing implementing post-overseas programs.
